It’s Not Me!

Our relationship will be guided by your needs and goals, as well as the guidance that comes forward for you.  With over 15 years of experience as a counselor and educator, my work provides direct, practical tools and guidance for daily living.  I have clients who come once for a Reading, and our work is done; and I have clients who see me on an ongoing basis for counseling.

 

Education, Training, and Experience

My own “contract” as a Guide and Teacher presented itself very early on in my life.  As a child, I began to serve as Teacher, Guide, and Healer to my family and community.  I carried this responsibility from a young age, and by the time I was a young adult, I worked as a counselor and teacher in various social service settings.  My strong desire for training and the need for tools led me to the study of Tarot and Astrology.  In my spiritual quest, I pursued every form of “mystical experience” that I encountered.  I searched for training anywhere I could find it.  Finally, I sought out my teachers in the formal education system.  At the university, I immersed myself in the fields of psychology, mythology, philosophy, and feminism.  I studied in-depth the work of Freud and Jung, and in applying psychoanalytic and Jungian theories to the field of literature, I developed a keen awareness of personal mythology systems, or what Joseph Campbell called the archetype of “The Hero’s Journey.”  I began to see archetypes as the common threads that connect all human experience, and bridge the modern fields of Medicine, Psychology, and Mythology with the ancient esoteric arts of Tarot, Astrology, Mysticism, Tantra, and more.  In 1996, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Washington.

In my desire to share all that I had learned with others (my “Teacher” archetype), I pursued a teaching degree.  I completed my Masters in Education degree and taught literature, mythology and writing to young adults in both high school and community college settings.  I also continued to serve as a counselor and mentor in various positions.

As I built my career as a counselor and teacher, I gathered countless tools and modalities. Still, after many years of guiding others, my formal education left me with an unquenched thirst.  Although I had gained a strong intellectual mastery of the concepts I studied and taught, I had abandoned the spiritual path that I had embraced as a child.  Without a spiritual life, I was not able to integrate my knowledge into my own life in a practical way.  I was not able to “walk my talk.”   I was deeply unfulfilled with my life and my Self.  On one Spring day, I experienced what mystics call the “Dark Night of the Soul.”  I hit rock-bottom.  I had lost all faith, and the only thing left in me was a prayer for help.  At last, when my ego had lost all desire to continue, my soul was finally awakened.  Shortly after this experience, I encountered Sacred Contracts and a teacher was placed on my path who would change my life.  I was called to study with the world-renowned Intuitive Caroline Myss.  In my studies with Caroline, everything began to make sense in the bigger scheme of things.  I began to understand why every event in my life had happened exactly as it did.  I began to see that I, like most people, had been living my “Contract,” but not the “SACRED” part of it, as Caroline describes it.  I began to understand my TRUE life purpose – the contract of my Soul!

Since then, countless miracles have happened in my life, one of which is the wonderful blessing of another spiritual teacher and mentor, the powerful medicine woman, Char Sundust.  I have completed my training and am currently serving as a Shamanic Practitioner.

I have been blessed with amazing teachers and mentors and because of them, my life has changed completely!  My dreams are coming true every day.  I now have a healthy, loving marriage, a beautiful relationship with my daughter and step-daughters, a spiritual community, and, most importantly, a relationship with my Self and a spiritual life that sustain me.

I have personally experienced the powerful effects that a spiritual teacher and counselor can have on someone’s life.  My hope is to be a similar source of inspiration, healing, guidance, and support to my clients.  Most importantly, I love my work!  It is my calling, and I do it because my ancestors have asked me to.  It is a joy and an honor to serve.  Thank you.

Every day that I surrender my life to the Great Mystery, I am blessed. My life dream is unfolding before me, and each day is a miracle. I have been blessed with amazing teachers and mentors! My dream is to return this gift to the world -- to share this work with others and be a source of divine inspiration and healing for Mother Earth and all her relations for the next seven generations.
